About the Blog (Photo by Michał Bielejewski on Unsplash)

Some days, the darkness of our world and of our circumstances threatens to swallow us up. Other days we are blinded by distractions, comfort, busyness, or complacency. It doesn't take long before our hearts desperately need a glimpse of the Light, even if we don't recognize that's what we need. My desire is that We Are Seen will be one place you can come to find just that. It is a place where I share what I am learning as I seek to follow the Light of the World in the light of His Word, so that you might also be strengthened and encouraged to seek Him out.

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
-John 8:12

About the Title (Photo by Luis Galvez on Unsplash)

The name "We Are Seen" was inspired by Genesis 16 and the story of Hagar. She was a simple maid who ran away from Abraham and Sarah after being used and abused. By the world’s standards, she had very little value. No one would have cared about her plight. From an earthly standpoint, her circumstances screamed that God couldn't care less about Hagar. But, He did care. He reached out to her in her distress, and He comforted her. She was a nobody, but He promised to give her more descendants than she could count. After that, she called God “El-roi,” which means “the God who sees me.” No matter what we are going through in this life and no matter what the world says, God sees our very hearts. He sees us in a way that no one else can. It is my hope that my posts will point you to the fact that God sees you where you are at and that He cares for you and loves you more than I can adequately express.

What to Expect

I strive to publish a new post at least once a week.  My posts often include personal stories and struggles, verses that have been particularly helpful to me recently, and timeless truths that God is instilling into my heart.  Occasionally, I post more thorough studies on various Bible passages or dive deeper into a particular Biblical topic.  Often, my posts stand alone, but I have published a few series as well, which you can easily find under the "Series" tab at the top of this page.  I also feature a ministry each month through my blog's Facebook page, and I publish the interviews for those on this site.

About Sharayah

I love to write, and I am passionate about my God.  You can read about how I first met Jesus and about some of the major milestones in my relationship with Him here: To Be Known.  I have been married to Jonathan since 2012, and I share a little bit about how we met here: (Herbie), The Love Bus.  Jon is a youth and worship pastor, and I find great joy in working alongside him to minister to the youth in our area as well as playing piano for the worship band.  During the week, I also have a part-time job as a nanny and a part-time job accompanying the choirs for the local public school.  We have been praying for a baby since early 2015, and I first shared about our struggle with infertility in Part 2 of my series titled A Life Unexpected.  For now, our three dogs - Nika, Hank, and Drover - keep us busy.  I am an organization and data junkie, I enjoy finance management, and I have oodles of hobbies - crochet, photography, graphic design, cake decorating, and paper crafting.
